Portsmouth, located along England’s southern coastline, is a city with deep ties to maritime history. Visitors can explore centuries of naval heritage at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, home to iconic ships. The dockyard offers an engaging look at Britain’s seafaring legacy through interactive exhibits and beautifully restored vessels.

The city’s skyline is dominated by the Spinnaker Tower, a striking modern landmark that stands 170 meters (over 557 feet) tall. From its observation decks, guests can take in views of Portsmouth Harbor, the Solent, and the Isle of Wight.

For a taste of local history, Southsea offers something for everyone. Southsea Castle, built by Henry VIII to defend against invasion, now hosts exhibits and picturesque grounds overlooking the sea. The area’s pebble beaches, colorful beach huts, and classic pier give Southsea a charming seaside vibe. Visitors can also stroll through the green spaces of Southsea Common.

Portsmouth is proud of its literary heritage as the birthplace of Charles Dickens. Fans of the author can visit the Charles Dickens’ Birthplace Museum, where artifacts and exhibits bring his life and works to light.
